Manuka Smoked Sea Salt (New Zealand made, hot smoked)

As a seaweed specialist you may question why a Manuka Smoked Sea Salt, which contains no seaweed, yet is still in our range?!  The simple answer is that this is a very special product and has a loyal and slightly obsessive fan base which has built over decades.

This mouth-watering organic New Zealand sea salt is lovingly hot smoked in small batches, using a fragrant New Zealand Manuka wood, which results in a unique, soft floral and smoky, chemical free flavour!  Manuka has a broad, robust flavour producing a heavy smoke with a touch of sweetness. It is a distinctly New Zealand flavour.

Why Do you Use Sea Salt and Not Rock Salt to Make Manuka Smoked Salt?

In our opinion, sea salts are preferable to rock salts because the sea has an abundance of minerals, trace elements and vitamins which are no longer present in our depleted soils.

We have a range of other  natural sea salt products including Kelp Sea Salt and Seaweed Sea Salt if you sure you are definitely shopping for a seaweed infused salt! Visit our recipe section for inspiration

How we work

We pack all our products by hand in our food grade facility in Auckland.  We recently removed the zip lock from our bags to reduce the amount of overall plastic in the bag. Please use the resealable sticker we provide to keep moisture out once you have opened the bag.

Recycling our Manuka Smoked Sea Salt packaging

We recently added cardboard boxes to our range to ensure the stores who stock these products can stand them on shelf as the pouches we previously used fell over constantly! Please pop the boxes into your worm farm, or in kerb side cardboard recycling.

The plastic pouch can be recycled through soft plastic recycling schemes.

Our jars are all refillable or reusable. If you wish to do neither of these, please place the used jar in your household recycling.  Please read more on our packaging journey here.

How to use

How to Use Manuka Smoked Sea Salt

Directions:  Sprinkle to taste.

Use this unique manuka hot smoked sea salt as a dry rub for meats or add to your marinade. Works well with any meat, but particularly good with seafood.  Sprinkle on any vegetarian food to bring a smoky flavour (bacon without the bacon!).

Sprinkle over popcorn or in your sweet or savoury baking instead of regular salt for a unique flavour.  Add to sauces and garnishes, pasta, potatoes or even a cocktail!

We’d love to hear your suggestions – please contact us or share your creations on our social channels.
