Irish Moss has a natural deep crimson colour. However, if it has been dried outdoors it can become sun bleached and take on a blonde colour. Our latest batch has been dried indoors to ensure its quality and therefore is a deep red.
Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus) is also a plentiful source of fibre, vitamin K, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and many other nutrients (this can vary depending on seasonality). Learn about it’s incredible health benefits here.

Directions: Simmer in water to make a broth, or rehydrate and leave to form a gel which will keep for weeks in the fridge. (The gel can be applied directly to skin to moisturize or soothe as an ingredient in home-made cosmetics.) Use the gel to set raw desserts, and to add texture and nutrients to smoothies and jams. Irish Moss can also be used as an egg replacement.
Our Irish Moss is organically wild harvested, then dried naturally to preserve it’s dense nutritional value. We test all our seaweed for contaminants before packing it in our New Zealand facility.
