These seaweed flakes have a delicate savoury, smoky and slightly salty flavour.  This product is a finalist in the New Zealand Food awards 2021 in the Artisan Food Category!
It’s a gluten free, raw, dairy and soy free seasoning which will add a range of essential micronutrients as well as wonderful umami flavour to your food. Many are using this product as an alternative to salt as it has a naturally salty flavour, thanks to the seaweeds, but a far greater mineral content thanks to the seaweeds. It adds a splash of colour to your plate and is the ultimate carbon negative seasoning.
Seaweeds require no fertisiler to grow, no additional water. Did you know that seaweeds are responsible for over 70% of our earth’s oxygen? They absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen as all seaweeds photosynthesize.
We blend and pack our Power of Three Seaweed Flakes in New Zealand from imported ingredients. All the seaweeds in this blend are tested for contaminants in accordance with the ANZ Food Standards Code.
Ingredients: Atlantic Dulse, Sea Lettuce, Sugar Kelp (Saccharina latissima) seaweed flakes.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight as they are light sensitive. Seaweeds are hygroscopic (they absorb moisture from the atmosphere around them) so seal securely once opened.
Allergens: MAY CONTAIN TRACES OF: Crustacea, Fish, Molluscs.
Warning: Wild harvested seaweeds. Check for detritus.
Recycling packaging for Power of Three Flakes
We recently added cardboard boxes to our range to ensure the stores who stock these products can stand them on shelf as the pouches we previously used fell over constantly! The box also offers light protection as seaweeds can be light sensitive. Please pop the boxes into your worm farm, or in kerb side cardboard recycling.
The plastic pouch can be recycled through soft plastic recycling schemes. Ideally we’d not use plastic but as seaweeds are hygroscopic (attract moisture) we need to ensure we can keep the seaweeds food safe. Compostable options don’t currently provide adequate moisture barriers.
The jar we use can be refilled or reused, and it is 100% recycleable with your household recycling. Please read more on our packaging journey here.
