Take a look at our new Everyday seasoning pack which contains a collection of seaweeds we think are pantry staples for everyday meals.
We are really excited about this product as we are on a mission to make it easier for people to eat just a little seaweed everyday and this product is exactly that!
The seaweeds in these products are locally sourced, where possible and imported where they either don’t grow around New Zealand shores, OR we are not able to secure a food grade harvest of them. Whether they are local or imported, we test all our seaweeds for contaminants in accordance with the ANZ Food Code.
Storage: Seaweeds are light sensitive and may lighten in colour if exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Seaweeds are hygroscopic, meaning they absorb moisture from the air, so seal securely once opened.
Allergens: MAY CONTAIN TRACES OF: Crustacea, Fish, Molluscs.
Warning: Some products contain naturally occurring iodine. Excessive consumption may exceed recommended daily dietary intakes which could have adverse effects.
How we harvest, test our pack our wild wakame seaweed
Our seaweeds are all sustainably harvested, air dried to preserve the dense nutritional value they offer and then milled. We then blend them into seasonings and pack these in our food grade facility in Auckland, after they have been tested for contaminants in external labs.
Recycling our packaging
Our jars are all fully recyclable through your household recycling scheme. You can purchase refills of any of the seasonings, or reuse the jars as needs be. Please read more on our packaging journey here.
A word of warning on iodine
Seaweeds generally offer an excellent source of naturally occurring iodine. Please pay attention to the serving size suggestions on pack and consult a health care professional if you have concerns about your health or further questions about iodine.

Why eat seaweed seasonings everyday?
1.Health Benefits of seaweed
Seaweeds are the oceans’ superfood. Our soils are depleted from many of the nutrients which are essential to human health, but the ocean has an abundance of trace elements, micronutrients, vitamins and minerals, and these are all to be found in seaweeds. They are so nutrient dense that just a small amount is needed each day, so a garnish, or seasoning is the easiest and most effective way to incorporate seaweeds into your everyday meals. Read our blog article for more detail on how seaweed nourishes our bodies. They are generally very rich in iodine but they also offer an array of other minerals. Plus they are plant based, low fat, high plant protein, low carb food – what is not to love?!
We like to refer to this Harvard study, which encourages improving diet in the first instance, before adding made-made nutritional supplements. Most nutrients are more potent when they come from our food and have not been processed in a lab. Plus, food tastes better and is often cheaper than nutritional supplements, not to mention less of a hassle as you can simply add it to what you are already eating or preparing to eat.
2.Umami Flavour and Seaweeds
Each seaweed has a unique flavour, just as a carrot has a different flavour to parsnip, although they are both root vegetables. Collectively, they offer an umami flavour – not sweet, sour, bitter – they will add depth and texture to the flavours of your meals and these seasonings can be used before, during or after cooking as a garnish. Kelp is also naturally tenderising as it contains enzymes which break down cell walls so this is a perfect ingredient for a marinade.
3. Seaweed seasonings – a good alternative to salt
With a salty flavour and intense mineral content, seaweeds offer an excellent alternative to salt if you follow a low sodium diet or are trying to reduce your salt intake but still crave salty flavours.
4. The Ultimate, carbon negative gift for a foodie!
Seaweeds all photosynthesize, producing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide. They require no additional water or fertiliser to grow in the ocean. Our packaging is all fully recyclable (see below). This is a gift you will have peace of mind giving!
