Our popular Seaweed & Sesame seasoning range is offered in three natural flavour options – chilli, garlic and citrus, and has been a staple of our range for nearly a decade! You can purchase it in a 50g jar (great to trial and experiment), or a refill box.
Having these seasonings in your pantry, or on your desk at work, makes it very easy to add a little seaweed to your plate every day. You may simply be looking for a salt alternative if you follow a low sodium diet….well seaweeds will give you the minerals your body seeks as well as a salty flavour.
If you want to know where to start with seaweeds, this is a great entry point to the oceans’ superfood!
We also refer to this range as ‘furikake’ as they are inspired by the popular Japanese rice seasoning called furikake.
What are the health benefits of seaweed and sesame seasonings?
Our seasonings contain a blend of different seaweeds, as each seaweed offers unique micronutrients and flavours, in the same way that each land vegetable is unique from others. Our mouthwatering range has some natural seasoning added, all MSG free, gluten free and dairy free. Read more bout the seaweed rainbow here and why we suggest eating more than one type of seaweed.
If you are looking for a way to boost your nutrients, such as iodine, magnesium, calcium, as well as add new flavour and interest to your plate, seaweed seasoning is the way to go!
Rather than stopping what you currently do, simply ADD some seaweed seasoning with a sprinkle or pinch, before during or after cooking. We like to refer to this Harvard study, which encourages improving diet in the first instance, before adding made-made nutritional supplements. Most nutrients are more potent when they come from our food and have not been processed in a lab. Plus, food tastes better and is often cheaper than nutritional supplements, not to mention less of a hassle as you can simply add it to what you are already eating or preparing to eat.
This range is an excellent, healthier alternative to using salt as a seasoning on your food or in your cooking.

Harvesting, developing, testing and packaging our Seaweed & Sesame seasoning range
Our seaweed & Sesame seasoning range contains seaweeds which have been sustainably harvested from various places (because different seaweeds grow in different places, just as land vegetables do!). All the seaweeds have been air dried to preserve their dense nutritional value.
Pacific Harvest specialises in seaweed, and has been trusted by the nutritional community since 2002. We test all our seaweeds for contaminants in external labs, blend them with other natural ingredients, then pack them by hand in our food grade facility in Auckland.
We recently removed the zip lock from our refill bags in order to reduce the amount of overall plastic in the bag. Please use the resealable sticker we provide to keep moisture out.
Recycling the packaging of our seaweed & Sesame seasoning range
We recently added cardboard boxes to our range to ensure the stores who stock these products can stand them on shelf as the pouches we previously used fell over constantly! Please pop the boxes into your worm farm, or in kerb side cardboard recycling.
The plastic pouch can be recycled through soft plastic recycling schemes. Ideally we’d not use plastic but as seaweeds are hygroscopic (attract moisture) we need to ensure we can keep the seaweeds food safe. Compostable options don’t currently provide adequate moisture barriers. Please read more on our packaging journey here.
The 50g jars can all be reused or recycled through your normal home recycling scheme.
