What is Agar?
Agar is a plant based getting agent, derived from a red seaweeds species of the genus Gelidium. Agar is a vegan or vegetarian substitute for gelatine and, we believe is easier to use than gelatine, as it sets at room temperature and stays firmer in warm weather.
What are the health benefits of Agar?
Agar is nutritious (contains magnesium, calcium, manganese and iron). It contains no calories, sugar, fat, cholesterol and is low in sodium. Research has shown it may be beneficial for weight loss, diabetes and digestive tract conditions. Rich in fibre, Agar soothes and cleanses the digestive tract and is also mildly laxative. Pacific Harvest’s Agar is tasteless, odourless and colourless. Where is Agar sourced? Our Agar is sourced sustainably from India and tested for contaminants.
